I’ve wanted a tattoo for a long time, and as a super enthusiastic art history lover, it makes sense for me to want something inspired by my favorite works of art. So as any millennial, I looked to the internet to find some good ideas.
After hours of browsing Pinterest and Google Images and lists on BuzzFeed, I started to compile a list of favorites. These aren’t necessarily tattoos that I would get, but it’s more of a list of shout-outs to other art lovers and their incredible ink.

A super realistic Andean Tumi knife

Nike of Samothrace

The Birth of Venus…

…or the Birth of Venus AND Son of Man

This incredibly dedicated combo of da Vinci works

The prefect art history bestie tattoo

Or just get the whole image to yourself

Michelangelo’s Moses

Artemesia Gentileschi’s Judith and Holofernes

A mystical scene from Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights

A colorful Starry Night

Or a cute portrait of Van Gogh

This amazing sleeve of Picasso’s Guernica

The minimalist Kiss by Klimt

An homage to Frida

Tough yet sweet Georgia O’Keefe

A crisp Marcel Duchamp

This playful Keith Haring

Whimsical Banksy
I love them all! I would personally go with something a lot smaller than all of these, and I haven’t decided on what to get yet. Because it’s permanent, I think I’ll wait until I really feel connected with a particular work of art, but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate these!
Any recommendations? Would you get any of these?
